Building large dams can have ADVANTAGES and DISADVANTAGES such as ADVANTAGES = There are no risks of flooding in the area, and it is more cultivated, also it provides electricity and water supply DISADVANTAGES = People living in those areas are forced to move, the ecosystems are completely destroyed, improves de risk of earthqueakes and pollution, also it reduces water life 4. In Argentina, Patagonia it is found a dam named "El chocon" and it is formed by the rivers of Neuquén and Rio Negro. The main reason why this dam was built is because both rivers were increasing their water and was causing problems for the population of the Alto Valle and Valle Medio, since in 1899 there was a huge flooding and consequently it destroyed Viedma and Carmen de Patagones. Later on 1950 it was developed a project by Agua y Energía Eléctrica, although they could not finish setting it up because of the high prices.
